Ono Dam : Ono Dam is located at the down stream of Miyama River which runs from the east to the west. This is a part of Yura River that runs toward the west of this location. Ono dam is the very first dam constructed in Kyoto Prefecture in 1961 for multiple purposes. The dam has a hight of 61 meters off the ground. Ever since its construction the surrounding area was provided with an extensive park with walking paths to explore for visitors. There is a visitors' Center where you can learn about the structure of the dam. There is a part called Dam Lake in the park. The lake is in another name called " Rainbow Lake " for its colorful images it provides for each season. The magnificent view around this area can be enjoyed all seasons in different lights. The area has more than 1000 cherry trees as well as mopre than 500 maple trees. There is a cherry blossom festival held in mid-April. A special booth is provided for the festival where you can purchase local specialties such as Miyama's dairy products, vegetables etc. There is an annual off-season fire festival around 15th of April. Autumn Momiji Festival is scheduled in mid-November around 18th. Please check the official calendar for each year. Ono Dam's location is west part of Miyama-cho. This part of Miyama-cho is abput the very central part of Kyoto Prefecture right next to Tamba-cho. ( TGM Kyoto Guide : Trans-word+ )
