A secret Kyoto highlight. Escape the crowds and enjoy wandering through this 100 year old botanical garden in any season. There's a wide range of garden types, from formal to more wild. There's even a remnant of original Kyoto forest. There's so much to see, with interesting information displayed throughout. I'd suggest taking a picnic as the food outlets are not always open and have limited menus. There are plenty of places to sit and take in the beautiful surroundings.

Best day out! If you love exploring gardens, this is not to be missed! Only 200 yen for entry, and the current exhibition was 100 yen. So much to see and explore. I can only imagine how pretty this would be in different seasons. It was very quiet, not many tourists at all when we went around 3pm on a Monday. We rode hired bikes and there was plenty of allocated spots to park for free.

Nice botanical garden with a huge greenhouse. The garden is really huge so it is worth to get prepared for a longer walk. There are some vending machines and smaller stalls where you can buy refreshments. From time to time there are additionals programs and activities for children in the park which is also great.

Keep in mind I went during summer at the end of August. Conservatory was closed. Quite a lot to see here considering the cheap entrance fee. The gardens meticulously maintained, which I expected from a Japan garden. There are different areas or themes with different types of vegetation in each area. Some of them are very beautiful. The visitor's center is very old and not worth spending any time in.

It's 200 yen to enter the park! You can buy tickets at a vending machine at the entrance. The park was relatively empty on the weekend but I felt there was not a lot to see in September. You can buy an extra ticket for 200 yen to enter the conservatory. You could buy it at the front entrance of the park but you can also buy it at the conservatory for the same price. It's totally worth doing as you can see lots of different plants from all sorts of biomes! The rest of the park was pretty but felt bare and disappointing. My favorite area was the bonsai trees!
