We went this place on 27th March at 8 AM. Unfortunately we were not able to see the sea of clouds. It is said that from November to March is the best time to visit this place but it completely depends on your luck. We heard from the local that the best time is November. Although we can not see the sea of clouds but the normal castle view and the city view is also not bad. If you are planning to visit this place please visit around 7AM. Otherwise you may not able to see the clouds.

We read and saw pictures of this natural phenomenon and decided to make it a priority during our trip to Okayama. We arrived at about 7:15am, lucked out (apparently there had been nothing to see on the previous day!), and thoroughly enjoyed spending 90 minutes watching the scene evolve, with the castle periodically appearing, disappearing and reappearing above the mist. Well worth the trip (and a follow-up visit to the castle (about 30 minutes away) was also very enjoyable).

Came on a summer weekday in the rain and had the platform to myself. Great views between showers. Definitely worth a visit if you can get here. It is possible to hike from the castle itself or go one way from here.

Visited the Matsuyama Castle Observatory this morning and we were very fortunate to be blessed with good weather and were able to witness the magical sight of Bitchu Matsuyama Castle floating in the clouds. It was well worth waking up early in the morning for.

Visited just before sunset. Good view of Bichu castle as well as the town.
