We got up to the peak through the stairs which is not very used as we only realise there is a more scenic route through the memorial park when we walked down. The view of the ocean and cliff where many died through suicide is so lovely that it is somewhat healing to the painful history of Okinawa. The park is a lovely walk.

Powerful stuff when you know the ashes of 180000 people lies beneath your feet. Excellent park in general, nice touch with a butterfly garden.

Four years ago in February, I went on a school trip during the third semester of my second year of high school. The view of the sea was beautiful. Also, as the site of Japan's only ground battle, it is an appropriate place to convey a message of peace. This is because Mabuni Hill is also the site of the last fierce battle of the Battle of Okinawa. I would like to express my condolences to those who lost their lives in that war.

No matter how many times I go there, I am overwhelmed by the amount of stone monuments. The names that were carved out were only a few centimeters wide for each person, but it's hard to believe that they were all people. It is a place that quietly and strongly teaches us that war should never happen again.
