The face does not look at the statue of Saigo, but towards Terukuni Shrine across the street, and there are three statues of Nariakira Shimazu, Hisamitsu, and Tadayoshi at Terukuni Shrine, so the statue was built so that it looks like it is looking towards them. It seems that it has been decided. The explanation next to the statue says so, but I visited on a very hot day at the end of July. It was so hot that I didn't feel like reading, so when I got home and did some research, I realized that I should have taken a photo with Terukuni Shrine in the background, or that I should have gone to Terukuni Shrine to see the statue of the Three Lords. .

In front of the Prefectural Cultural Center (Takayama Hall) is a statue of Tateto Komatsu, a retainer of the Satsuma clan at the end of the Edo period. Coordinating with the feudal reform at the end of the Edo period and with Atsuhime, who you all know. He was a man who played an important role in the Meiji Restoration, such as performing the restoration of imperial rule together with his subordinates Saigo Takamori and Okubo Toshimichi. To people outside of Kagoshima, he is a minor figure compared to Saigo and Okubo, but in Kagoshima he is more famous than the previous two. When you look at the Shiroyama-kata Saigo bronze statue from behind the sword-wielding statue, you get the impression that it is directing some kind of life towards Saigo Takamori.
