Things of the glamour of Jizo-In Temple

①Why is it called “Tsubaki Temple”

As you can see from the temple’s name, Jiso-In Temple is famous for camellia. The “Goshikiyaechiri Tsubaki” donated by Hideyoshi Toyotomi was in full bloom. Because the past tense is now dead. But don’t worry! The second generation “Goshikiyaechiri Tsubaki” are in full glory. Even if second generation, the camellia is about 120 year’s old.

“Goshikiyaechiri Tsubaki” is a five colored camellia with withe and light pink flowers. So many flowers bloom and each flower is big, each petal is scattered.

These camellia flowers are best viewed from late March to early April.

Flowering time in 2019,

Start of blooming: 11th March

40% bloom: 13th March

70% bloom: 19th March

Depending on a year, around the end of March weeping cherry blossom in full bloom.

The camellia is a plant native to Japan, As one of most beautiful flower trees in japan, it is loved by Japanese people.

〜Camellia’s the language of flowers〜

Camellia’s the language of flowers is “Modest splendor”, “Unpretentious grace”.

◎A red camellia’s the language of flowers is “Humble virtue”

◎A withe camellia’s the language of flower is “Full beauty”

◎A pink camellia’s the language of flower is “Discreet beauty”

Personally I like a red camellia!
